Drawing New Districts

So adjustments are needed, to craft districts roughly equal in population, while ensuring every citizen equal representation to the extent possible, and presumably without tilting the tables to favor one party or another.

Sadly, Gerry's legacy lives on in Florida.

As leaders of the dominant GOP begin this year's process in Tallahassee, guardians of electoral fairness and decency — the League of Women Voters and FairDistricts Now, among them — report that those running the show give every indication of returning to the backroom tactics that got them in trouble the last time around.

Now it’s up to Republican lawmakers overseeing the work to determine how far they believe state courts will let them go in crafting new lines that will include an extra congressional district. Past redistricting has spurred fierce legal fights as Republicans and Democrats jostled for political advantages.

In advance of the census data release, a coalition of groups held a webinar Wednesday to discuss efforts to ensure that the once-a-decade reapportionment remains a “transparent process” that follows anti-gerrymandering guidelines in the “Fair Districts” constitutional amendments approved by voters in 2010.
I'm guessing that the only 'fair' district will be the ones that give demoncraps the advantage?
Lawsuits will abound until the demoncraps win.
Neither party will draw equitable districts.

I read the stuff Democrats write for each other. They are currently deathly afraid they're losing too many of their minority voters and are only popular with wealthy white people who were indoctrinated at leftist universities... coincidentally the chief element of their party that is driving away their minority voters. At any rate the strategy they're looking at is redistricting and eliminating the electoral college to maintain power. The moderates among them want to end all the extremism stuff and pursue a platform with broader appeal based on jobs and healthcare. I hope they prevail over the wingnuts in their party.
