AL ads have definitely dropped in numbers. I check fairly regularly when I’m in the market and my area, which is normally pretty high volume can go for days with just a handful of new ads. And some private owners haven’t figured out yet to put a number or a mail in the ad for folks that just aren’t going to pay for the privilege of contacting a seller.

Sent FGT a second msg asking for a response. They haven't responded to either. That tells me they really aren't all that interested in cleaning up their site or the concerns of their users/customers. I'll continue to report all the Nigerian scams I see, and there are others doing the same thing as well as listing the 'scams of the day' to warn others.

Anyone know of alternative BST sites other than Armslist and Florida Gun Trader? Other than here of course.

This is a relatively closed-knit forum, where people build up reputations, so that accounts for the relative sanity of the BST here.

Gunbroker is a for-profit business that has a lot of stake, so they police it well.

FGT was always sketchy at best, since it had neither of those two factors to motivate compliance. I was always super-wary of using it. From what I am reading now, no way. The peace of mind is worth a few bucks.

I'm happy to use FGT and Armslist, but only for local sales. Finding those is the whole trick now that most of the stuff seems to be a scam

From what I've gathered, he's a pedo with serious mental issues. He'll post guns and Rolex watches for sale then cuss you out if you contact him or try to haggle the price. He'll contact you on any ad you post and cuss you out as well. They've posted his address and arrest record on FGT before to warn people. It seems he's the one posting all the racial stuff and the gay porn.

What kills me is he has been on there for years doing the same old crap.

An excellent illustration how little the site owners care for their reputation. Here we are, talking about the scammers and other idiots on that site, and it just goes on as it has for quite a while. When I first joined that site, it was pretty good. And, I got a good deal there on my most recent purchase, a S&W 69; FTF, of course. But, wading through some of the other stuff now is no fun.
