That Happy Moment When You Find Something Unexpected

Post by lighteye »

I've found cash in a jacket I hadn't worn since last year, but todays find was much much better....another sealed tin of steel core milsurp 7.62X54R that had gotten moved for who knows what reason after our burglary in 2014. About to post it up, as I sold my VEPR earlier this year, and don't shoot my M44. No work since January and we're trying to move, so the unexpected windfall is most welcome. I felt like a squirrel that managed to find a forgotten acorn stash. Santa arrived early here, and I'm not complaining :D .

Back in the early 90's while stationed in Germany, the wife and I went out to the only place that was open on Sunday, as I was jonesing for a currywurst. It had been raining pretty good that morning. As we got out of the car, I saw a 50 Deutschmark note floating in the gutter by the front tire. At the time that was just under $30 or so. As I bent over to pick it up, there was another, another, and another... one by one floating down the street gutter. By the time I finished scooping them all up a minute later, I was a few hundred $$ ahead of where I'd been when I parked the car. Not a bad haul at all.

I found a couple hundred dollars on the sidewalk in Miami Beach about a month ago, walked back to my hotel and ordered Uber Eats. They delivered my food and for some reason about 10 mins later I got a message on my phone that the order had been canceled and "your card was not charged". Probably should've gone straight to a casino at that point...

Geez, you guys have better luck than me.

Me, I'm the opposite. On the rare occasion I find myself having any extra Franklin's sitting in my wallet and I go to the store expecting to use them for my purchase, I find they are gone when I whip out the wallet.

The wife can smell'em! Or behaps she can spot my increased bulge
Ah that's one thing about our Flame, doesn't play any favorites! Flame hates everybody!

10 year ago almost to the day my two youngest sons and I left to go on a hunting trip to the mountains. Just before I left I bought 5$ in quick pick for the lotto and stuffed the ticket in my centertr console. The trip was a great success and I completely forgot about the ticket. Fast forward to late January and while at work I ran out of smokes. Went rummaging through the truck for my emergency pack and found the ticket. Event upstairs to my control room, had a smoke and almost forgot about it again. It got pulled out of my shirt pocket while I was making the final log entries at 2230 hrs and seeing how I had time before my relief came in decided to check it on the web site. I got 3 numbers then four then five and holy shiznit miss the sixth by one but it was still 4,064 bucks. Bad part, I was so excited I told my wife when I got home. So instead of guns, we paid off some bills. Every lotto win since is a classified secret. Problem is, the most I've hit since is only 200 and they've probably got every cent back....and then some.

I was setting up my new office (reloading room). While cleaning out the closet from one room to move things to the other room, I found a case of 9mm I had stored. Yea!!!!, a 1000 rounds. It wasn't a windfall, as I did pay for it at some point, but it sure felt like Christmas.
