Search engines

I know about different search engines. But it seems to me anyways that even though you use them. They still go through Google and your search results are still geared towards their preferences.

Is there an actual search engine that does not go through Microsoft or Google or do you need a totally different operating system or am I totally wrong on all of this.

DuckDuckGo.com is probably the safest search engine to use.

I recommend Firefox as the browser. It's (arguably) the most popular open-source browser out there, and it's not owned by Google, Microsoft, etc.
