Anything to keep away tree rats and racoons?

Is there any product that will keep tree rats and racoons away from my feeders?
I found another feeder yesterday at my place that the critters had chewed away the edge of the plastic lid so next time it rains all my corn in the bucket will get wet and get moldy and getting stuck in the spreading mechanism. Damn critters are jumping down from branches above the bucket and chewing on the lid to get to the corn inside. Looking for something that will repel critters by odor or taste.
