What Are You Old Coots Taking For Arthritis?

Post by TC6969 »

I've been taking 500m Naproxen for 20 years, but its not cutting it these days.

I didn't get a chance to ask my doctor before he quit the practice and his partner suggested I soak my hands in warm water.

Whats the latest/greatest in the old stiff fingers world?

A cute 19 year old gal can be helpful at times.

Physical activity works for me. Exercise doesn't seem to help at all. I assume that's because the exercises I do are too focused, while general activity works everything.

The traumatic arthritis in my rebuilt ankle responds best to ordinary aspirin, but it's been over a year since I last needed to take it. The arthritis in my spine & hips is adequately treated with tylenol, but again I haven't needed to take any for that in the last year.

Captain (Morgan) and ginger.

Actually, that’s not fair to you old folks. It’s just my knee (where I had surgery 7 or 8 years ago) that bothers me after exertion, or if I twist it. Also, I’m only 73.

Not sure about warm water but the hot wax treatments my wife used does wonders. I have used 800mg ibuprofen for near twenty years. It works but hard on stomach.

Tramadol, works for me. I've had arthritis in my hands for years and this has helped mitigate the pain. Still hurts, but tolerable

My hands hurt all the time I have trouble opening a bottler of water with out help can't lift much if it requires squeezing with the hands. I've had shaky hands since my teens but now I have trouble holding a screwdriver steady enough to turn a screw. Using a drill driver isn't much better. Me and a computer mouse is a comedy show. At times even using 2 hands I can't control the mouse.

Got a doctor appt coming up I think it's time for him to give me something for it but my guess is he will want me to see a specialist. At 78 I don't want to go into too many situations where I'm in contact with sick people.

This weekend should be fun I have 2 rooms to paint.

Advil works for me... I am 62.
Two pills each morning... and that's it.

When I get out of bed, I walk like an old man... once I get my bones moving and walk my dogs, I feel like a new man.

So, I agree with Iosef, for me it's the moving my bones, getting busy and in the course of living and moving, I find I feel better.

But, in the morning, crawling out of bed for the first pee, you would think I was half-crippled. Within 10 minutes, all the kinks start working out.
