Sen. Scott's Reply

Post by P5 Guy »

Thank you for contacting me regarding the recent tragedies in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas. I appreciate the opportunity to respond. Tragedies like these are devastating, not only to the communities and loved ones impacted, but also to families across the nation as we grieve with them and keep them in our prayers.

The safety of our families is always my top priority, and I am a proud supporter of the Constitution, the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding citizens. As we work to move forward, I am committed to reviewing proposals that work to keep Americans safe. As Governor of Florida, I worked to increase safety measures in Florida’s schools through the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. We also passed a “red flag” law in the state of Florida, commonly referred to as an Emergency Risk Protection Order (ERPO). When properly constructed, red flag laws are a common sense measure to keep weapons out of the hands of any person who threatens to harm themselves or others, or who is mentally unstable.

As United States Senator, I remain focused on making sure that our schools and communities are safe, and that those struggling with mental health issues or threatening harm to themselves or others cannot use a weapon. I am currently working with my colleagues to pass the EAGLES Act (S. 495), which provides law enforcement more resources to prevent tragedies and improves school safety for students and teachers. I am also a cosponsor of the Threat Assessment, Prevention, and Safety (TAPS) Act (S. 265), which will create a task force of experts to provide recommendations for a national strategy to keep communities safe from targeted violence.

Again, thank you for your correspondence. I am proud to represent every citizen in Florida and I appreciate the time you took to provide your position on this matter. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Rick Scott
United States Senator

But removed the safety from young families. We are keeping an eye on Sen Scott.
I have yet to hear from Rubio or Crist.

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for gun violence prevention. I appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts, and welcome the opportunity to respond.

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is an important part of the Bill of Rights. While I strongly support the Bill of Rights, I firmly believe there are common-sense policies that we can and should adopt to prevent horrific gun violence like the tragedies in Las Vegas and Orlando. Instituting universal background checks, reinstating the ban on assault weapons, banning bump-fire stocks that simulate automatic weapons, restricting ammunition magazine capacity, and closing the private sale loophole would go a long way to prevent gun related tragedies such as suicides, accidents, domestic violence, and terrorism.

Every day that Congress refuses to act, more Americans die from gun violence. I will continue fighting to save lives and keep our families safe by pressing for common sense gun safety legislation. Recently, I was proud to join a bipartisan majority of my colleagues voting in support of H.R.8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, and H.R.1112, Enhanced Background Checks Act. These historic bills would strengthen the background check systems by closing the gun show loophole and the loophole that allowed the Charleston, SC shooter purchase a gun before his background check came back stating he was ineligible for a firearm. Together, they represent the first actions by Congress in a generation on commonsense, gun violence prevention. Finally, I will continue to fight for greater access to mental healthcare. More than 60 percent of gun deaths in this country are from suicide. By working to identify unmet mental health needs sooner, we will prevent more people from harming themselves and others. There is no single or easy solution to America's tragic gun violence epidemic. But it is long past time that we take these steps.

Thank you again for reaching out. Please keep me informed of the issues important to you and your family, your input helps me to better serve you. To stay up to date on my work in Washington and Pinellas, please visit crist.house.gov to sign up for my e-newsletter.
Sincerely,

Charlie Crist
Member of Congres

This is the reply from Crist, to whom I expressly stated that no more firearms restrictions will be tolerated.

dear Congress critter,

As several elected officials have been found abusing spouses and have been found with questionable financials I am proud to announce I am taking bipartisan action that no elected official will be allowed to handle their own finances from here on. Further that they will have all protection details pulled so they can indeed lead by example! You can always resign if you do not like these new changes after all! You are not now going to say well, we did not mean it are you?

Something to that effect anyway. Send it to every official and start petitions to have the language mAde into bills to be put forth!

See hope fast they change their tune! Then hit the hard for hypocrisy and work to get them out!

Oh well, I can dream!

Yes we can. I'm sure a better canidate will run against these idiots if they continue on their paths. These RED FLAG LAWS are wrong. What part of the 4th admendment do they not understand they are violating. Plus no felony penalties for those doing false reports. That's wrong.

Plus these antigun JUDGES, PROSECUTORS and LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES that HAVE ABUSED THIS LAW and used it to steal guns. Also they just do not give your guns back. You must get an attorney to get them back.

There's even been innocient AMERICANS murdered these and I truely hate using this term. Jack boot thugs with a badge UNCONSTITUTIONALLY VIOLATING AMERICANS protected 2nd ADMENDMENT rights.

All because some joe F'ing blow who may not like guns said they could be a danger.

Americans who've owned guns they're entire life with no record of anything ARE A DANGER BECAUSE SOME OVER ZEALOUS ANTIGUN DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST EXTREMISTS OR RELATIVE who's a SOCIALIST EXTREMISTS SAYS SO.

What happened to being arrested for a crime first. Not, YOU MIGHT COMMIT A CRIME.

Here's the response I got back from Scott about any new gun legislation. Basically stating he's going to do whatever he wants. Told him in my email that if he continues on his current path listening to these bogus polls. That he will lose his reelection bid for office. That he's turning on and not doing what his constituents want.

Thank you for contacting me regarding gun sales and ownership in America. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

I believe lawmakers must be very careful to balance our individual rights with our need for public safety. I’m going to do what I can to secure those individual rights and make sure guns are not in the hands of the wrong people.

Again, thank you for your correspondence. I look forward to representing every citizen in Florida and I appreciate the time you took to provide your position on this matter. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

I have a question Sen Scott, will you vote NAY on all proposed firearms restrictions?
Second question, will you vote to keep violent felons in prison indefinitely?
