Local Mechanics

Anyone have any local mechanics in the Tri county area (preferably Broward) that could do a motor swap on a 86 MCSS? I’d like to ditch the 305 for a mild 350, nothing crazy, first quote was $6000.

Did the 6k include the engine or was it just labor.
Might want to consider a used LS1 or LS3 instead of the small block.

I can do it if you have the motor (or know what you want) and aren't in a hurry. You'd have to get the car here (Stuart).

I haven’t gotten the motor yet, I keep scouring for the perfect one, getting the car up there wouldn’t be an issue and there’s def no rush, it’s been sitting in my garage for 10 years and hasn’t been driven. I’d prefer to keep it carb’d just because to go to a modern LS swap it’s gonna involve so much more labor and replacements to the electronics/transmission. I think 300-450hp at the crank is more than enough for me. Just want reliability and a little pop.

Jegs and Summit are always having sales/closeouts on their crate motors. Keep checking their sites.

There are bolt-on injection kits that look like/fit in the place of a carb...(Carbs are a PITA). They use one small controller box for electronics that fit on the firewall or inside the glovebox. Tuneable with a smartphone!
