Any attorneys here?

Post by Keith »

I just need a simple will for my wife and I. I have called around and it is just insane what is wanted for a consultation to talk about a will. I have been quoted $185-350 just to talk to an attorney about a will. Is this a normal price or do you guys know of anyone else I should be calling? Thank you in advance.

Guess I should have mentioned that. I also have a will. I really just need some names changed on it. From what I understand though is that they just like to do a whole new will.

I needed a new will. Simple stuff everything shared between my sons and they were both trustees.
Legal Zoom did a solid job, no issues.

Passing on advice from Clark-
Willmaker or the nolo version are good enough for most cases unless:
You have lots of money
You have his hers our kids
You have relatives who are currently fueding
You own your own business

If you are very cautious you can do your own will and get it reviewed by an attorney for half price.

You will either need to do it yourself, using online or store-bought templates (probably will work fine) or
You will need to pay for the service you requested. How much is an attorney's hour worth? Billable rate?

You pretty much get what you pay for... whether in attorneys, car mechanics or whiskey.

I was under the impression you could just write your will down on toilet paper if you wanted to and get it notarized and you were good to go.
