You're right. They don't even seem responsive to flags. If they see flags ln an ad and just look at the infosniper locations, they'd see and be able to weed out some of the worst. I'm sure there are more tools as you've indicated.

Yep, everyone needs to look at the infosniper to check the location. I still have received no response from FGT on the email I sent them. Not very attentive to the folks that use their site unfortunately. The scammers are still at it so I flag everyone I come across.

Yes, its gotten REALLY bad. they don't list location, list $2k firearms for under a grand, will only ship to FFL and won't allow in person inspection, "location" of the firearm is way away from the city its actually advertised in, etc. There used to be just a handful but now its way more than usual.

How do you use Infosniper for the individual ads?

Just click on the red "target" symbol to the right of the name. That will reveal the location based on IP address. There is a limit to the number of times you can do this per day. Also, look at the ? next to the target, which explains it more thoroughly.

Thx Red, that was certainly easy. Yep, the one Tavor x95 I tested on was from NYC.

There can be reasons another location can be legit, but those are few, and caution is advised. I suppose one can be traveling on business or visiting family, and decide to put a gun up for sale, collecting (sometimes slow) responses to act on when one gets back. But, that's the way I think. If you contact the seller and they want to ship, or can "deliver" but need a deposit, run.

The legite person might be using a VPN as well. I look to see when they've joined. That takes a lot of the guess work out of it because most of these scammers have joined recently, often that day and are the ones listing a 19X for $400 or saying 'shipping is approved'. Just zap the bastards by reporting them. May or may not be a losing battle but at least I feel like I'm doing something, lol.

I've also noticed the last few people I've contacted have kicked back a msg undelivered to my email. I know at least some have gone through but I don't know if all of them are going through? FGT just needs some Admin work behind the scenes.

I've flagged a bunch, some real screwy ones, but to no avail. I guess the best way is this one: Just spread the knowledge.

My home ip says I'm in Gainseville, about 70 miles. My phone ip shows me in NJ, CA or, occasionally, OK.

It's not just the IP, although that can be a strong indication. I use a VPN myself.

It's the new accounts opened the same day. Saying that 'shipping is approved'. Listing the same gun (same photo) in multiple cities all over the state. Listing a gun for way less than the current prices. Does anyone believe a Glock 19X going for $400? Not even in normal times did they go for that.

And of course the gay porn is still going on making the site NSFW.

I got use to the low-ballers offering a stupidly low price. Those are easy to just ignore and never answer. Same with the flippers asking stupidly high prices, simply ignore them as well. But the other stuff makes the site a PITA.
