a friend claims their father is a WWII combat vet but he was born
6/1931 and WWII was from 9/1939-9/1945. even if he only
served during the last year he would have been 14 which seems
unlikely.

yeah i read all that but i don't think it's true in this case. i think either my
friend is wrong or his dad was telling porky pies !

My grandfather enlisted in the Army at 15
My Grandfather was proudly tossed out of the Army twice for lying about his age. He was 15 when he enlisted in 1929, and made it about 7 months before they tossed his out. In 1943, he went back in. At 30, with 4 kids and married, he was too old as an enlistee. He made it 10 months. It sure made sorting out his funeral arrangements interesting with the VA. No birth certificate and three baptismal certificates all signed by the same priest.
