Chess?

Post by Taco »

Anyone play?

I used to play regularly (once or twice a week) but very casually. About 3 months ago I started watching chess lessons by Ben Feingold on youtube and I started learning, practicing, and training. I've made some good progress in the past two months. I'm able to beat 1200-1300 computers and am rated right around 1100 (humans do much better against me).

I feel like I played someone on here in 08 or 09...

I used to play a lot as a kid. Backgammon and Pente too. It's hard to find the time and people to play with anymore. It's not the same on a computer to me.

Played a little chess as a kid and thru the years. Taught my grand kids how to play chess, shoot grandpas goodies along w some occasional archery. Once a year they’d come down from CT for a week or two and we’d do all of the above. Now the oldest is a marine and the younger just in the navy. I am missing those times already. The game inherently breeds a comradery, and time to share things about life and the future.

I used to play a bunch back in my late teens.
Then in my 30's had an older friend who used to like to cajole me into playing chess after we'd had several beers, I couldn't keep up.
For me chess and drinking dont go hand in hand, too much thinking involved.
I haven't played the game now for over 20 yrs.
I do still have a little folding wooden set up on a shelf in the coat closet.

Same here. Backgammon. Played in college. Hosted my dorm's tournament. Now I play a computer program that cheats like crazy, if you let it control the rolls...

I like playing chess, sometimes I play with my FIL
he’s really good at it and most of the time kicks my butt.
I’ll try to play a couple matches tomorrow.
