RobsTV wrote: Fri Oct 26, 2018 2:42 pm Numbers on the rifle all match, including bolt, but unfortunately scope serial number is different. Have the info entered in a database that owners use to try to match scopes with correct rifles that they originated with.
Heck you have one thats 99% of the battle, it took me years to even start looking for matched numbers.. :D Any idea if the scope went down to Indonesia in the 1950s..
This is scope serial 17262 with mount for L32517
Need scope serial 27940 with mount for U32356

Swiss K31. I've taken off the end metal plate and it still has its card who it was issued to. Some Lt back in the 60's. Amazing trigger

I’ll see your sweet #4 and raise you a #5:

That one belonged to my father, has a Herter’s stock on it that fits me like a glove. It was made in Fazakerly in October 1947. SN 2xxx.
I bought another with the original wood in good condition a few years ago, from a buddy who stumbled across it doing renovation work for an elderly customer. Got a good deal on it even after I told him it was worth more than he was asking. Can’t find a pic of it on my phone.
Matching numbers on both rifles. Would be cool to own one of the #4’s in 7.62 NATO. Would be great to find extra original magazines for them, too. I’ve seen replica scopes on Amazon but have no idea if they’re legit. I’m cool with the micrometer sights until my eyesight deteriorates.

Love that no 5.. You should be able to get a no 4 magazine that fits a number 5.. And original no 4 mags are on sale an e-bay all the time in like the 40 dollar range.

even though no 5s missed out in WW 2, they were all over Malaysia and Palestine in the late 40s & 50s.

The Malaysians would even grind off the bayonet lug (look at the guys rifle on left) .. Guess loosing that extra weight helped..

I will work on that answer for you. I’m curious now myself

Looked up serial number. 1951

I’ve thought of adding a scope but w the K31 it’s offset to the side slightly. They also have a diopter sight for it
