I picked up this nice little wheel gun for a what I think is a good price. Anyone else own one.

I had one for a while and it was okay but I ended up selling it as I prefered the slightly smaller and lighter S&W 66 for my purpose and I found not all my 4" K frame holsters work with it. Just keeping with all 4" K frame revolvers made it simpler for me.

I had the GP's Grandfather the Security Six.

Great gun.

My son still has it.

Yes, a 2 3/4" Ruger Security Six was my first handgun too. Got it in 1979 from Ace Air Conditioning and Supplies for $179 and that included a box of Remington ammo. Loved that revolver but hated that little wood grip. Like a dummy I sold that thing in 1989 and purchased a S&W model 38 Bodyguard...which I still have.

This is an old thread but I wanted to tell my experience with this gun.
I have had two beautiful S&W model 686 in .357 magnum. Both failed without much use, and had to be returned to Smith who graciously repaired them at no cost. They worked well.

I bought my near new Ruger GP-100,( 4" barrel in blued steel, .357) in 1986.
It has performed flawlessly through an estimated 8-10 thousand rounds without a visit to the gunsmith. The revolver is still tight and accurate with a very nice single action trigger, and I shoot it better than anything that I have ever owned.

I got rid of those beautiful 686's because I no longer had confidence in them. After all these years I have to say that for me, the Gp-100 is the best revolver I ever had.

I recently picked up a Match Champion and am hoping to work up a load for it. It is reasonably accurate with Winchester white box 38 SPCL 125 grain JHP +Ps. However, I have some practicing to do with full-house .357’s...8” groups at 10 yards with factory Federal 158 grain JSPs. In singe-action. I’m terrible!

I don't have a Match GP but I do have a standard Gp100 that just seems to be perfect. I got it in a trade with another member here and could not be happier.

I've had a good week! Sold a Taurus 709 slim yesterday and bought a SS GP 100 today. The slim I bought cause it was cheap at Rural King. The GP 100 has been on the wanted list for years but never found the right deal. Finally a buddy sold me his that I had been admiring for years. :D
