I think it's good that Ruger is branching out into a sort of new market considering how niche 5.7 is and how expensive the FN Five Seven is. While I don't think that highly of 5.7 personally, I consider it overhyped due to the media sensationalism over "armor penetrating" and overpriced just due to FN, it's great to see more innovation even if it is reviving somewhat of a dead, niche round.

It'd be a nice range toy but I can't really see a practical application for these as self defense guns as I feel they would suffer from what a lot of AR's do in those situations, overpenetration unless you have an AR built purposefully for SD/HD using the correct ammo for it.

I love the round and I found this sweet video awhile back it's blue tip 5.7 ammo, not the red tip ammo.
