Re: Over 50? Go Get A Shingles Shot! DO IT!
This thread reminds me of the hanging scene in an old movie... I don't recall the name of the flick. One of the men waiting to be hung was making a speech on the evils of drinking. I recall him saying something along the lines of, "Taking the devil into your mouth..."

Re: Florida takes on federal gun control.
You folks are "counting your chickens before they hatch." This bill will never make it out of committee. That only happens if you don't put pressure on the lawmakers. They take your silence as approval. I realise that is what the legislators want us to believe, but I'm not that naive. Tim...

Re: The Fight For The Soul Of Seattle
I vaguely recall Seattle as a nice place to visit, back in 1980. I've never been tempted to move there, since I ride a motorcycle and it rains too much there. I've had to live in rain forests in other countries and I know better than to think it would make a nice place to live. I didn't watch the pr...

Re: DUCK!!! We're being sniped at from VERY long range
It gets worse... It turns out that CoVid19 is another weapon aimed at us. AstroPhysics guys haven't figured out why the infecting package lagged behind the light from the muzzle blast by 448 years, but that's how long ago they saw the shot being fired. The muzzle blast was classified as a SuperNova ...

DUCK!!! We're being sniped at from VERY long range
At 11.4 Million Light Years, I'd certainly call it long range and it's been 13 years between shots, but still... Something is trying to shoot us. We need to send an OpsTeam to scout before it gets off another shot. By the way, the weapon has been identified as a Neutron Star but the ATF hasn't said ...

Expanding the TSA? ...or add new buearaucracies to the mix?
Back in the 1970's, when I saw the first metal detectors going in at the airports and had to start flying out of small fields to avoid them, I wondered how long it would take to expand to railroads and busses. I'm kinda surprised that it has taken this long for demands of security to block the secon...

Re: Need help changing rear sprocket on my dirt bike
Btw is it ok to start riding from 2nd or 3rd gear? If I’m not slipping the clutch for too long? Modern bikes use a "wet clutch" that is designed to be slipped under load and high rpm. okay... except for some BMW's that still use a dry clutch. The oil reduces wear to the friction plates, a...

Re: Need help changing rear sprocket on my dirt bike
Really, the problem isn't the torque, it's your lack of familiarity with the clutch/throttle. Every time you get on a different bike, you have to go through the process of learning how to use them all over again. That's why even experienced riders tend to get into crashes on new machines. It usually...

Re: Need help changing rear sprocket on my dirt bike
Just stop using first gear, until you get used to the throttle response.
I had to quit picking up bikes to put them on blocks, too. A crowbar and a handfull of 2x4 blocks make it easy to lift any weight in a limited space. An 8' 4x4 works even better, if you have the room to use it.
