flcracker - I didn't know they had a whip section at the state fair, I might have to go check it out!
jhartman413 - 6' 16 plait two belly bull starts at ~$120 in whichever colors you like, add roughly $15 a foot from there. Stockwhips I'd sell for $100 or less. Snakes maybe $50-$100 depending on length. And if you're local, you can try these types out before you decide.
ipscscott - I've never handled a roo whip, but from what I understand, nylon can roll out and crack every bit as smooth as a roo whip, with added abrasion resistance, moisture resistance, and nearly zero maintenance. It'd be nice to have a fellow whip enthusiast to crack with one afternoon!
rug357 - We can make that happen
paddledan - There's a variety of sources on the web, and two books I recommend,
Whips and Whip Making, by David Morgan (original whip maker of the Indiana Jones whips) and
How to Make Whips by Ron Edwards. However, almost all whip-makers have a different spin on their making methods, so take whatever you see on the whip with a grain of salt!
Oh yeah, I've been working on these lately. Man are they a hoot. Good for the cat and/or the wifey

Thanks for the kind words all,
Adam
