The result of Obama manipulating the issue to make it look like the Republicans, who were trying to cut other stuff to pay for it - and facing complete opposition from O and his Dems - look like they wanted to raise taxes on the little guys and leave the wealthy alone. The result has been Republican capitulation rather than lose the elections this Nov. So now the voters are, as usual, being bribed with borrowed money they will have to pay back in the future.
