The actual chain of causality is that immigration is turning Western Europe into a shithole and THAT is giving rise to "right wing populism." So immigration needs to be controlled to stop the shit holing of Europe--and, yes, that would likely reduce right wing politics in Europe.

Too late, the cat is out of the bag. It will be an interesting next few years.

You are certainly right for parts of Western Europe. It doesn't long for fecund invaders to be a problem not capable of being solved by acceptable means.
