Welcome back! Cool weather is nice for a change, but all the extra clothing is a PITA!

As much as we'd like to get out of the crowds of Pinellas, neither one wants any part of cold weather.
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a Single Star.

Headed back up in morning. Dr appointment in Monday. That should be fun. PT then OT then home nurse. PT bites but it does help. The OT is not quite as bad. That leaves the home nurse. Nice as it gives my wife a break but pretty humiliating. Getting older sucks. The bad water at camp lejeune certainly sucks. But life does what it wants and we just deal with it. The parkinson's is getting worse but I am cancer free. Last cystoscopy is in 5 weeks then I am done for 3 years. I guess all in all I am not too unhappy as it could be far worse. Dealing with the VA has been an experience. After 30 some years of it I have learned how hard it is to navigate that system. Since really good some really bad. I feel blessed to be waking up in the mornings and thankful for that everyday. Get checked early guys! It makes a huge difference. May all have a merry Christmas and happy new years.

As for the cold weather I agree. We built the house on top of a mountain. We have 42 acres and I love the peace and quiet but it does make it fun when it gets cold. When it snows we are pretty much staying home as even our new RAM 4x4 will not handle the steep hills. That's OK as we keep the pantry full and wood is plentiful for the stove. Lots of books I have yet to read. I am blessed and happy to be able to have what I do.

Last thought for the day, guys, give back where you can. Not as big a deal down here but in the mountains any help is 45 minutes to an hour. My wife and I have been volunteer fire and rescue for the last 7 years or so. Hard to get any young people to even consider it. We are both emt certified. I am also rope rescue and Swift water certified. We have worked average of 250 calls a year. We are now to the point where we can no longer do some of it. I can teach still and manage a scene but the physical is just not happening. If you are able please do what you can for your community. We helped in East tennessee after the hurricanes and it was absolutely devastating there. Hard to do it knowing there was a lot I just could not do. We tried to get younger people involved but it seems if it is not on their phone or computer they are just not interested. Sad. I know it gets old hearing this but lots of people need help at times. Saving a life stays with you a long time. Holding a hand while someone loses theirs never leaves. But being able to comfort them in that time and their family later helps. Please volunteer where you can. You never know what impact it will have! Long rant and my apologies.
