Seemed like they had horrible times out of the gate....

The Tesla is so expensive I would much rather spend my money on something else ......... An Audi S8 is about the same money and that has super car performance in a family size car.

Slightly OT, but how does the AC compressor not suck all the power from the batteries in a short time, whilst powering the drive train at the same time?

I'm talking about daily driving. You'd probably turn off the AC at the race track (unless you're a hipster or a yuppie).

they use a variable speed electric scroll type compressor similar to what
is used is home HVAC. it uses significantly less power than a typical
piston type auto compressor.

Anyone who doesn't know about Tesla's "ludacris mode" has either been living under a rock or just not into cars.

Just looked like that because the Tesla does 0-60 in under 3 seconds and crushed them out of the hole. The hellcat had slicks on so actually did pretty well... usually they suck at the strip without a professional driver.

There are about 6,912, 18650 batteries in a Tesla power module (700lb).

On the news, there was video of a crashed Tesla. I didn't catch all the details, but automatic driving was mentioned, but may not have been the cause.
Car was pretty much totally destroyed. A fireman was approaching the battery pack and those batteries were going off like Roman candles. It was amazing.

I posted a pic of the battery pack just above this post. Almost 7000 #18650 batteries.
