S&W, Ruger cave to investors

“We are all looking for solutions to gun violence,” said Sr. Judy Byron who presented the resolution at the meeting. “The shareholders who filed this proposal believe that, as a company directly implicated in these events, American Outdoor Brands is obligated to help find them. Not only can these solutions help save many lives, they may help AOBC’s long-term business prospects in the process and we are gratified that so many of our fellow shareholders supported our resolution today.”

“While gun violence is an issue of concern to everyone, the responsibility to market safe guns to the public appropriately lies with gun manufacturers and distributors,” said Colleen Scanlon of Catholic Health Initiatives.“Today’s vote shows that investors are united in their view that AOBC has a responsibility to authentically examine its business to learn what it might do to meet the demand for safer guns. Other companies without AOBC’s resources are doing so.”

I think the nuns would be better served keeping their rump ranger pedo priests in check and serving their socialist nut job pope.

Well, like it or not, the shareholders are the owners of the company. That's what corporations are all about.

The usual suspects again.

Bill Ruger with his "nobody needs and assault rifle or high capacity magazine" crap and S&W with their dealer policies that say they won't sell at gunshows to their "smart gun" horseshit. And all to cater to Bill Clinton and his "guns are bad" nonsense.

Since then, they've worked hard to restore their image. Seems somebody forgot that all that hard work can be flushed in an instant.

Makes no difference to me, I haven't bought a S&W anything since they tried to restrict where I can sell their product decades ago. Who needs a shield when you can buy a Glock? Who needs their M&P rifle when I can buy a Colt? The only S&W guns I have interest in are old P&Rs so they can go fuck themselves again for all I care.

Ruger? I just started buying some of their Mark IIIs and 10/22s as suppressor hosts in the last decade since they became a "born again" second amendment champion and swore it was just the old man. But honestly, who needs them. The only Ruger I'd consider recommending to anyone is a SP101 and that is a very special circumstances firearm.

I've got my security six, my Redhawk, Mark III and SP101 so they also can go fuck themselves.

They want a solution to gun violence? Fine. Start finding violent criminals, put them in jail and fucking leave them there. Nobody wants to hold alcohol companies responsible for criminal misuse, nobody wants to hold pharmaceutical companies responsible for criminal misuse and nobody wants to hold car manufacturers responsible for criminal misuse so everyone can just fuck off.

And if the shareholders of Ruger and S&W want to tank these companies AGAIN, then by all means kow tow to the anti gun crowd and see where it gets you. It's a shame I was looking at the take down 10/22 as a suppressed candidate, not anymore.

For those who don't remember it was Cuomo, the present governor of NY, now running for President in 2020 who as undersec'y of something forced S&W to sign the agreement that nearly put S&W out of business.
(That was a long sentence.)

S&W rolled over willingly to the Clinton Admin. The Bill Ruger problem was all Bill Ruger who firmly believed that nobody needed a magazine that'd hold more than 10 rounds.

On the latest stupidity I suspect the funds who own the biggest shares of stock just did a quick calculation and decided it'd be easier and cheaper to do what the wackos wanted - just more BS paper output nobody will read - than fight them. They just do not know how to calculate the effects of the insult to all of us in the gun owning community. So if you don't like it plenty of other people make firearms and they'll wise up when it affects the bottom line.

Is it caving if it's court ordered? Maybe all those gun stores caved by getting licenses and requiring 4473s...

There are (Christian religious) activist investors who bought 20% of the company with the plan to destroy it. They have enough funds to buy voting shares force some actions, like the creation of a report on the use of firearms in crime, but not enough to take over operations and shut down production.

What should we do about it? Buy more- buy less? I don't know... Tough to call, either we make the activists more money where they can do more harm to the industry or we bankrupt the activists- as they want and plan and take down figure head's of the American firearms industry in the process.

Watching the Herbalife saga was much more interesting because company failure or success had no impact on anything I cared about.
