Topic: "We did good, huh Papa"? Long Story 2 StG58s 1 Day

Postby BadGnus » Sun Jan 17, 2010 6:27 pm

A friend called last week to tell me about a friend ,who told him about a widow wanting to get sell her late husband's gun collection and he thought there might be a FAL in there. I get the number and call. It turns out that it is a distant relative who is selling off the recently passed widow's "estate".

She does not know anything about any firearm and cannot tell me squat other than she wants these guns OUT of her house! I make the two hour drive and meet with her. I take a look at what is left and sure enough there is an Entreprise Arms Stg58C standard rifle. I offer $700.00 and she says OK. I ask if there is a magazine. She goes to look and comes back with eight and a double pouch. Then she asked "would you be interested in this other little gun"? The other little gun is also an Entreprise Arms StG58C but this one has a 16 inch barrel, free floating hand guards, a lighted Leapers Accu Scope on a stanag mount. In a box she had the original cover and picatinny rail cover. I offer $1200.00 total. Readying for a counter I am surprised when she says "Sold"!

I am in the dog house though. $700.00 to $1200.00 is not easily explained to the wife. Plus I tried to sneak them into the safe. Bad move there.

Pics of the rilfes to follow soon.

I always sneak the new ones in...or I got them "in trade". [smilie=011.gif]

when I worked at the gun shop we had a racket going, where we would call a guys house while he was in the shop laughing his ass off after just making the purchase, and leave a message on the home answering machine that he was this weeks raffle winner of that certain gun.........worked every time, but only works once, please use sparingly :ber
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

you forgot to pick up the roses on the way home, while she is looking for the vase, you have plenty of time to stick it in the safe.
any questions after that...you traded it for ammo, specifically the stuff that is always in her way, smelled like gun oil and was in the rusting ammo can.

I know a guy who always took an empty gun case out of the house. Then when he brought home the new gun, it was a 'trade' or 'they didn't offer enough so I just brought it home'

Every few years, I make sure that when I purchase some non-gun item (jet ski, sailboat, cargo trailer, etc.) I tell the wife that I got a significant discount off the asking price by tossing in a gun as partial trade. Usually, it's a spare/duplicate gun that my Dad gave me or something I got in trade elsewhere - whether that's the true story or not..... [smilie=033.gif]
and some rin up hill and down dale, knapping the chucky stanes to pieces wi' hammers, like sae mony road-makers run daft... to see how the warld was made!

Trunk of the car. Wait until range day. She never notices a new one coming in with the others.
