I used to come down to FL from MA to visit my Mom. I had a MA LTC but couldn't carry down here. On one of the visits I got finger printed with the scanner and sent in the paper work.
If some one qualifies then FL should issue it.

Keeping and bearing arms is about freedom and shouldn’t be licensed, much less restricted to “residents.”

Anything else is anti-freedom.

Our founding fathers knew that all freedom is irrevocably tied to force; they go hand-in-hand. Any freedoms we enjoy would quickly disappear without firearms.

Yup.

Mr. Smith, we need to get together so I can buy you a beer! :ber
There is an undeniable cultural difference. It's the difference in the mindset of those who believe they are owed a living, and those who believe success is the result of hard work.

Just to play devil's advocate here... I would assume that most here are in favor of less federal government involvement and more control given to the states. If this is so and Pennsylvania has a state law regarding handguns that residents of that state are able to bypass by means of our state's freedoms... why should that person be granted the freedoms of our state, all the while contributing their resources to the state that doesn't support their desired freedoms?

To maintain control of their own state laws, Pennsylvania would then have to unrecognize Florida carry permits to maintain control of their licensing process. I would rather deny non-residents from getting permits, than have Pennsylvania revoke reciprocity as a result. You follow me?

With the PA hypothetical - I guess they could decide to vote on a provision to not allow another states conditions (for carry) to override their own. Across the board acceptance of all of our amendments sure would make things less complicated.

I see your point. End of the day is all states must recognize Constitution/BOR if they want to continue to be a part of the American experience. Anything less is un-American.

Yep. I'm not pretending to think I'm right or know the answer... I'm just making the point and asking the question. I just don't think it's as simple as some would like it to be.

I support the right of all Americans to bear arms, nothing at all wrong with Florida issuing licenses to out of state residents.

How enlightened of you.

Whats your line of thought? Florida is one of a very few states that allow non-residents to carry when they otherwise couldn't due to their home states restrictive and often unconstitutional laws.

Commissioner Putman had strong words for Lentz. "If he doesn't like it, he can take it up with the Pennsylvania Legislature. Other than that, they are just whining."

Now that is funny.

In analyzing these laws keep in mind that some states won't accept a CCW unless the bearer is a resident of the state that issued the permit. That is rightfully up to the state to decide if they want that restriction.
