SKS firing pin

Postby roofpro49 » Sat Oct 22, 2011 12:51 pm

While cleaning my Yugo yesterday, I noticed the firing pin sticking out of the bolt face. I pushed on it and it wouldn't move, so I took the bolt apart. I had to drive the pin out, and when I did, the pin was bent (I clean the pin occasionally, so there was no cosmoline or crud on it). I ordered a Murray's pin, but have two questions:

1) Can I straighten out the pin? (would that weaken it)

2) Does the Murray's pin reliably fire surplus ammo with hard primers?

Murray's is the ticket. I've put them in every SKS I've owned that gets serious use. The rebound spring just prevents slam fires - it still has enough punch to set off hard primers.
