sig 522,good times,bad times

Postby gunbuilder69 » Mon Oct 17, 2011 8:39 am

This is a little expansion from the walking dead debacle on the gd.

I bought a used Sig 522 from cap'n chaos when they first came out. it worked well for about 50 rounds then the spring guide clip broke off. sig sent me another with a sorry note. about 150 rds later it broke again and the spring bound up in the receiver and got mangled the whole upper went back to sig and when it came back,I swear they just replaced the upper.
Anyhow,I sold it to a friend(after telling him it was a poss. lemon) and he shot about 1000 rds from it. when i was ready to kick myself in the ass,he tells me the extractor broke and was jammed in the reciever. the last word on that...
I glad I,m done w/ that pos.

before the flame war begins:
I bought one of the first GSG5's to hit the streets. this gun shoot's everything. it is more reliable than my 2 old ruger 10/22's. their weak point? as usual, magazines :ham'r
I have a GSG AK47 and have built 4 dedicated M-4's since then(all of which I shot @ the FSN henrys shoot)that run flawlessly.
does this mean the sig 522 is indeed a pos?,no it does'nt. does it mean the 522 is a pos to me? yes!
insert flame here gals...

10/22 for life, yo. I did buy a GSG5, but I'm waiting on the F4 so I can actually shoot it. It's the Gen 1, so hopefully it works well.

I just learned of the bolt issue from the other thread, thanks.......I guess....... Debbie Downer [smilie=011.gif]
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

I too have one of the first run GSG5's and agree it is very reliable, not sure i would say its more reliable than a 10/22 but the only issues ive had with mine were due to old cheap lead nose bulk ammo

I commented on the other thread but my 522 works. Lots of fun. Got my gemtec outback 2 (thanks sweep) and it just hums along. _:
