Semi auto M2 BMG

Postby Gunnut42 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 11:19 am

I went to a Military contractors convention at the Broward County Convention center the other day.
One of the displays was the General Dynamics M2 Heavy Machine Gun.
After holding those spade grips in my hand suddenly I want one again...

Yes...A few years ago I actually almost bought one of those .50 caliber semi auto M2's offered by TNW for $7400.00 but chickened out ,
I mean after all it really is a CRAZY thing to own right?
...Anyway...now I have got the nerve again but it seems they are out of business.

Anyone have an experience good or bad with one or better yet know of one for sale?

A semi auto belt fed M2 would make a fine home defense weapon ....
Maybe for varmint control?

These pics are from their website.....

Have you thought about a 1919? Sure, the M2 is bad ass, but the 1919 is much cheaper to feed.

I had an M60 at one time which I foolishly sold off ....One of the problems was finding a place to shoot it.
In this case it would certainly have to go to the retirement cabin in the mountains...One with no immediate neighbors.

Thought about the Century made MG42's they have for $2500 but that is a totally different beast than an M2.
Im sure a Barret is probably a wiser investment and less extreme ...certainly more portable.

But imagine the fun of an M2 setup on a pintle mount or tripod firing at floating 55 gallon drums at 1000 yards...
Probably more like killing butterflies with a hammer....Thats why I chickened out last time but
AS an investment its bound to go up in value in the next 10 to 20 years.

Just dreaming I suppose.

Just a heads up to anyone interested ,
TNW is back in operation and producing the semi auto M2 BMG again as well as other semi auto versions of other MG's and SMG's.
Checkout their website if you get a chance at http://www.tnwfirearms.com
They have other interesting products like a gas piston conversion kit for AR15's etc.

The full retail cost of the M3HB/AC is $7,400 plus the cost of shipping to your local FFL ,
They used to go on sale just after the holidays and last time they dropped them to about $5700.
If you are an FFL dealer they have a lower dealer cost as well.

Ha ha...LOL...
They sell a semi auto MG 34 and I was picturing it mounted on a sidecar of one of those WWII Rusian "Ural BMW copies .

Note to self, never visit Gunnut42 unless it is NOT varmint season there!
