Saiga magazine help

Postby outlawjoseywales » Wed Sep 28, 2011 12:08 am

I have been a long time Milsurp shooter, recently purchased a Saiga because of the deal I got.
However, I've gotten conflicting information about adding a mag over 10 rounds from my gun dealer. Although I've gotten a number of responses on other sites, some fairly insulting, I thought I'd ask my Florida brethren for their advice.
Since I know I can't just plunk a 30 rounder on, at least in public, what do y'all think I should do.
Thanks for the help.
I neglected to say I have a 7.62X39 Saiga rifle in original configuration.

do the conversion and buy some AGP mags

In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

Do the conversion and buy milsurp mags.
The money will go into channels which will carry it, not to the most productive, but to the most corrupt. By the standards of our time, the man who has the least to offer is the man who wins.

Agreed on doing conversion add a bullet guide and use any mag you want.
However if you aren't ready to convert you can swap one Or two parts for us made and use us made 30 rounders. Without a bullet guide you have to use saiga specific mags.
Check out saiga12.com for the best info. Including some 922r calculators to help you figure it out.

According to this calculor. You only need to swap one part for U.S. made to use U.S. made 30 rounders. The gas piston is probably the cheapest/easiest.

But the conversion is the way to go. Fun and pretty easy, and you'll be much happier with your rifle in the end.

Thanks for the replies. That calculator thing is awesome.
You would not believe how rude some gun website people are on other places. "AK files" has some nasty folks, just cancelled them.
thanks for being kind to a native Florida guy.

I don' t think its being rude when others tell you to use the search before asking a question that has been asked 100 times before :-k

So true, and I agree.
I'm a board member on a football coaching site and roll my eyes alot.
Should have been better-just wasn't. Sorry.

However, calling someone names and insulting them personally doesn't have to be done.
And, no one is forcing anyone to read or post, it's all for fun.
But I do understand the point.
We don' have to be disagreeable simply because we disagree.
