Sad news about FALkev - update 11/2/2010 - memorial info

Postby DaeWoob » Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:48 pm

Hello all,

I have some sad news to report. Kevin (aka FALkev) passed away today just after 3:00PM. He was hospitalized on the 22nd of August after a fall at home. He was diagnosed with Acute Liver Failure and slowly faded away. He died peacefully in his sleep. I was with him all night this past Tuesday and he would wake now and then and we'd exchange a few sentences then he'd go back tp sleep. About 5am he got to the point where all he wanted to do was sleep. He was moved to a private room today in hopes that he would stablize and then go to a Hospice but, it was not to be. He decided it was time to put his problems behind him and find peace in eternal sleep.

I am going to miss that man a whole lot. He brought my appreciation of firearms to a whole new level. His knowledge of guns and their history was nothing short of phenominal. He was my friend for 21 years and he will be an inspiration forever.

Please keep him in your thoughts and have a beer and a "shot" in his honor. [smilie=cheers1.gif]

wow, I had a PM sitting in my outbox for almost 4 months to him, I finally deleted it figuring he wasn't on FSN anymore, last time I spoke with Pam she said she had spoken with him a while ago, I asked to pass along best wishes.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

I got to meet FALkev at one of the FSN shoots at Road Ends Range about 4 years ago. We all had good fun shooting each others guns and Bs'ing till it was time to close the range (I remember Nicolas being there too). Since then, he has helped me out with a few of my FAL questions and even offered to help me re-barrel my DSArms.

It was good to have met him.

That sucks. Seemed like a nice guy. Bought my 617 rom Kevin. Seemed quite honest. From time to time, I would get a pm from him about going shooting some time. RIP

Falkev and I became good mates following that first FSN meet up I attended back at Roads End. The main reason being I guess after he had worked in England for several years he got to like the English sense of humour and our ales, of course [smilie=011.gif] . Like most FSN folks my conversations increased the closer to our visiting dates and Falkev was no different, when health and funds permitted he would travel to a shoot and talk to me for hours about shooting and England. With him being ill and off work, I really appreciaited him making the effort as I knew it was'nt easy for him all ways round.

I promise to hold up a a pint of decent ale tonight and toast my friend ' God Bless you mate you will be missed'

Anyone who has started shooting or had their interest increased because of Falkev go out and incourage a friend to try shooting or help along a fellow shooter and pass on your knowledge to those folks, just like the big guy used to [smilie=011.gif].

DaeWoob, I'm sorry for your loss. We will keep you and Kevin's family in our prayers.
There is an undeniable cultural difference. It's the difference in the mindset of those who believe they are owed a living, and those who believe success is the result of hard work.

Sad to hear. Kevin was one of the Good Guys. Was Great to talk to, sometimes too much talking, lol
but always there to lend an ear as well.
He became a good friend of the Family through FSN. Was a good customer then we adopted him as an
Uncle. He would always call and talk with with either my sis or my Dad and just have grand conversations.
Which makes me think that now him & my Dad are probably upstairs just a chattin away. lol

RIP Kevin!

The photo is from about 10 years ago. He died at 49. The hair got longer and the beard a little bushier but, this is Kevin. Gone way too soon...............
