Cleaning ported barrel ports?

Postby tlturbo » Sat May 22, 2010 10:00 am

Has anyone figured out a decent way to clean the crud out of ports on O.U barrels? The holes are too small for any brush I can find and I really don't want to spray something like carb cleaner on my barrels to dissolve the deposits.
Any help appreciated

you can get really tiny brushes for cleaning (paint) spray guns. You might also want to check in the toothbrush section, sometimes they have small brushes for people with braces. Just 2 thoughts off the top of my head for small brushes.

also, in the infant's section at publix or walmart they sell brushes for cleaning the nipples on bottles. I use those for the gas port on my FAL, and for cleaning small hard to access parts on other guns as well.

Dental tools work wonders. Hit the flee market and you can find them dirt cheap.

Bore snake and lots of spray oil wd40. If you have really cruded up the holes use ear cotton buds, cut the head off and shape the plastic into a quill for tough spots.
