WOW!..... That sure is a Bubba masterpiece you got there..... absolutely no way to value it until it sells IMHO, at least it is a WW2 gun so it can be fired without worry.... one of my uncle's was too young to make it to ww2 but was in the occupation army in Bavaria from 1946-'49... he sent and brought back all kinds of stuff, paintings, china,silverware... including a G.I. .45 that he had engraved and polished and bright blued by a german gunsmith in exchange for cigs and food.....the engraving pattern on this gun is similar, this could be one of those. Just keep checking Gunbroker to see how similar guns fare.... Good Luck! :ber
Perhaps the meek will inherit the earth, but not until those of us who ain’t meek are done with it....... Massad Ayoob

Ok, I'll play.
The base action/barrel would be worth about $400-$600.
Figure out the cost to replicate the stock and engraving in today's value.
It's a one-off collectors piece.
Pricing will depend on how badly a collector wants it, like everything else.
I'd say to duplicate it today would easily be several thousand dollars.
In today's market, imho, Good Luck getting it unless there's a hidden market for Bavarian-Black Forrest Springfield 1903 Sporters.
But for a motivated buyer who just has to have it....I'd stick to possibly as high as several grand as the absolute top end...just on replacement cost.
YMMV

Why is this even allowed to be in the 'American BATTLE Rifle' forum??? It is a SPORTER rifle based on a M1903. It is no longer an AMERICAN BATTLE RIFLE! :ham'r [-X

Mods; please relocate it.

I got a tear in my eye.
Repeal the 17th Amendment, let’s put America back to the Republic the founding fathers intended!

No one should be getting mad at anyone for making a hunting rifle out of an old MilSurp rifle.
A way back when there were drums of old Army Guns in the back of the hardware store on the corner no one cared what happened to them. Making them more comfortable to shoot by changing the stock, making the barrel shorter, improving the sights and or putting a scope and mount on and drilling the receiver for said mount was acceptable. Commercial hunting rifles in those days were more expensive than those old Army Guns.
Now the their are collectors driving the price of those old Army Guns higher and it, now, makes no economical sense to modify a MilSurp for hunting. Times and attitudes change.
As for the price, who can say? Compare this rifle to other used, quality, hunting or target rifles and go from there. I'm thinking that $500 would be the upper limit.
