ORF has cetme kits for $80

Postby kmagnuss » Thu Nov 12, 2009 2:43 pm

I dont' know jack about putting together a cetme, but I read here http://www.militaryfirearm.com/Forum/sh ... hp?t=14076 that ORF has cetme kits for $80, and flats for $39. I'm not sure what else you'd need after that, aside from a welder, but if you've got the skills it seems like a great deal.

they are grade 2 and 3 kits , pretty much worth it for a beater Cetme or just for the spare parts.... I ordered a G3 flat for the $ 39 price a few weeks ago, best bet is to keep calling, Kelly is the only one taking orders , the website is not current and they are on the way out of business, the best way to reach them is the new e-mail I think its infoORF@aol.com

Kmags you will need to bend that flat into the receiver, I'm on the list for the loaner jig, should get it in a month or so, If you wanna get a flat you can run up here while I have the jig and bend it and get it welded up....but you still need to weld that trunion into the receiver and weld the cocking tube area.

I've got a kit sitting here and been thinking of a Cetme pistol just for the fun of it :-k _:

not mine, but you get the idea ..... [smilie=011.gif] [smilie=011.gif]

this is more of a G3 pistol, but would look sick with the wood, the problem is getting the gas system right

you've got to do a little work on the trigger pack and make sure to stay 922r compliant. Not a hard rifle to build. Mine cost way more than that.

Are these w/o barrels? I wouldn't mind picking one up with a flat, and seeing what I could do with it. Besides, I need something to do with the G3 mags I just bought from CTD!

the general consensus is that they are these ^^ kits....no barrel

same parks kits that Centerfire sold about a year ago for $ 99...again minus the barrel.

and that invitation to bend flats while I have the loaner jig is open to anyone close who wants to meet up

if you notice the kit in the bottom of your pic has a bent cocking tube there are now reports on other build sites of lots of Grade 2 kits all with the bent cocking tubes and some with rust.....hurry before they get to the bottom of the pile

Mine ships Monday - I'll let you know what I get. [-o<
If it's decent, I'll be on the hunt for a U.S. made barrel.

My kit and receiver arrived today. Looks on par with the pics kmagnuss posted, and my cocking tube looks straight - nothing more than a couple of small spots of surface rust (welds are ugly, but they're coming off anyway, right?) I do need to find an online tutorial on demilling these kits - looks like I've got a date with a dremel and a few cutoff wheels. If I get time this weekend, I'll post a few pics.

Invoice broke down this way:
"Cetme kit - $80";
"Stamped receiver flat - $40";
"shipping via Fedex - $22";
getting another "project" to add to the pile labeled "I'll get to that someday" - PRICELESS!

I refused to pay $ 95 for a flat when they first came out, then they were $ 69 and still left a bad taste, once ORF ran that special for $ 40 I bought one then sold it and just got another recently, I let you know when that jig will be arriving...

Don't forget about the barrel you'll have to buy...another $100 or so.

Sounds good. I just got some pics taken - i'll post them up shortly. Overall, I'm happy with the condition (hey, especially for $80.) The rear sight is probably trash - pretty banged up and spins in the bracket like a pinwheel. Bolt looks pretty good, and the buttstock's not bad at all - few dings and scratches (and someone's initials) and one small chip by the sling slot. I'm going to try to build this as inexpensively as possible - Century Cetmes are going for $499 each in Shotgun News right now, so it's not sensible to trick this out with fancy furniture upgrades and whatnot.

Here's what came in the bag (the cosmoline was free - flash hider was completely full of it.)

rear sights are impossible to find, just ask SKSseven...I know he ordered one from a guy on GB in Spain and it took 6-8 months or something like that to finally get it

Screw the cetme rear sight...put on a g3 sight. They're everywhere and they're cheap. Plus, they have the block to allow you to keep a scope mounted better.
