So...I love my remmy 700 but frankly Ihave become bored of it and havent really shot it much this last year. I hope to have a can in the future and was thinking of getting something I could use on most of my centerfires. This would require the barrel to be threaded. I figured, heck while Im down there, why not take a few inches off. The gun is a 5r milspec with a 24inch barrel. I was thinking of going down to 18-20. Figured it would take off some weight, make it more manageable when I do take it out to the field, and not be so long with the can on it. My father-in-law has an 18 inch barrel on his .308 AR and the accuracy is fine for the distances we generally shoot (less then 500 yards).
Any cons? Pros? BREAK OUT THE SAW???

Glad you cleared that up.
