My new (to me) Remy 5R range report

Postby macgyver » Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:57 pm

My scope, rings, and base came in yesterday, Installed them last night and hit the range today to get her sighted in. Thanks again to Matt (fnforme) for the trade.

Here's the breakdown on the rifle

Remy 700 5R MilSpec (2004 Model I got it used with ~100 rounds down the pipe)
Warne 1pc 20 MOA Base
TPS TSR Medium rings
Millett TRS-1 4-16x50 MilDotbar reticle and 0.1 mil turrets

I have to say that I'm completely in love with this rifle. I just took it to the range to get it sighted in. Using crappy Remington UMC 150gr MC ammo from wal-mart (I've got a few boxes of match ammo on the way but it hasn't arrived yet). Three consecutive 3 round strings and it got better each time. Had about an 8mph wind coming from my back left today. I know there's definitely more in this rifle once I get some match ammo for it and work on my shooting skills more. These were shot off a bench and bags. Dont knock my shooting too bad, this is the first scoped high powered rifle I've ever had :)

Looks good. Ihave the same gun. Expect better groups with match ammo. Mine hated the UMC 150grn. I have gotten the best groups using my own handload which closely resembles fed GMM 168grn.

Very nice, now test your test skills even more by shooting 5 round groups.
