seems like a cheap way of having a run-and-gun rifle with NATO interchangeability...

Hmmm. That looks interesting. Wouldn't mind putting that on my .223 WASR. But I am sure it will cause more issues than it solves.

I can see the cost saving aspect of this; AR mags are cheap, but why would you want to take the most notoriously unreliable portion of the M16FOW and put it into one of the most reliable guns ever.
