Missing Granddad already

Postby madmyk » Mon Jan 02, 2012 10:05 pm

While not a member here, my Grandfather is most likey the cause of my being here.
The man who introduced me to the Ithaca M37 and the Marlin model 60 in my youth has left us today. I learned most of my gun safety, a bit about marksmanship, and a lot about recoil (37 featherweight 16ga) from my Grandfather. Spent some summers on the "farm" and learned a lot (but not near enough) from him. Wish I had a few more years.....
These Sarah Brady types must be educated to understand that because we have an armed citizenry, that a dictatorship has not happened in America. These anti-gun fools are more dangerous to Liberty than street criminals or foreign spies."

Remember the good times brother.

A beautiful sentiment, Mike.
Your granddad is proud of you. Probably already bragging to his buddies gone before!

Mike, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

I remember vividly the passing of my grandfather and the impact he had on my life was very similar to your posting.

A reminder to those of us that still have their grandparents, enjoy every minute you can with them because you never know when it will be the last............

Your feeling of loss will diminish over the passage of time. What will not diminish are the memories you have of your time with him, and his time with you. I was raised by my grandparents. Just about everything I am today is a reflection of their caring. I am grateful to have had them....and every time I shave I look in the mirror and my grampa is staring back at me.....it's scary, at times.

Cherish what you had....and someday be that guy for your grandkids!!!!!!
