Heavy,
I was at your point at one time. I started out with a bead filled sock, that worked for while. I then moved on to a rear bag from Wally world, it worked for a while. I had the Caldwell rabbit ear bag, it worked for a while. I have a Edgewood and a currently use a Protektor with bunny ears. You will have to decide what works for you.

Remember at lunch I mentioned your bipod was too high, that would force you to get a really high rear bag. If you wanted to stay with the bipod, then the Edgewood would work, as it is really high, and why I don't use it. Not to mention it is probably the priciest of all the bags out there. Now if you switch to a 6-9 bipod, most any of the bags I mentioned would work with it.

As for the filling, in the Protektor bag, I use playground fine sand you can get at Home Depot. You can also use the heavy sand that Sinclair sells if you get really serious about competition.

If you come up for another match, ask to try out and look at what other guys are using, then you will have a good idea what your needs are.

SY

PS

Oh yeah, stay away from the bags at Wally world, they will probably last 1 outing. Get a decent one.

thasnk for your input Steve,

i got to use Pauls rabbit ear bag and that worked pretty well, and i used Dann's Edgewood bag on saturday. i think the protektor will fill my needs, and seemed stable enough without being a 50lb block like the edgewood... nor has the $150 lb price tag

also the protektor bag is on sale at natchez which i am ordering some other stuff from, so i think im gonna go w/ that...

I used to use a no-name leather bag that I filled with rice.
It worked great until somebody walked off with it at Trail Glades.
Now I just use my hand under the stock... I make a fist and tighten or loosen the fist to make adjustments.
I don't shoot rifles from bench for long periods so it works for me.

I use two leather Protektor bags filled with sand for my rear bags when firing off the bench. I form the bags so that they form two wedges and face them opposing one another. To elevate I push the small bag on top of the larger bottom, to depress I slide them apart. I have also got some Red Tac Gear nylon bags filled with poly beads. They are light so you can pack them with you for field use.

A GI tube sock filled with unpopped popcorn, rice, or my personal favorite, Airsoft BB's.
