Iron sights on Winchester Model 70

Postby chaotik » Fri Dec 16, 2011 5:17 pm

I need some suggestions (including where to purchase) for back-up iron sights for my Winchester Model 70 featherweight compact.

Also, as my gunsmith is not able to install them, are there any recommendations on who might be able to in SE Florida?

Thanks!

I hate to say this, as it is your gun and you can do what you want with it, But: No, stop it, don't do that. Grinding flats/dovetails into the factory bbl that was not engineered to be ground on will mess up the harmonics and therefor P.O.A. + any gunsmith would likely refuse to do the work due to the liability of a shattered bbl. In my humble opinion you can do a little searching in your local Pawn Shops and pick up an older '60's or '70's model bolt gun with iron sights for under 3 bills or in my latest CDNN Catalog, Rossi single shot 2 bbl combo sets with iron sights are only $229 + shipping/Transfer.... Good Luck! Jim
