Yeah, the magwell grips are great if you are most comfortable shooting in that position.

Personally, it should fire everything that you stuff in it so in other words your rifle is failing. While you may not want to clean the whole rifle each trip you should at least clean the bore if your having issues.

Does your AR fire steel cased ammo on a hot chamber reliably?

Well actually yes they do! But hay it may be the luck of the draw.

I am left-eye dominant and have found that Tc-accessories brass deflectors to be the trick to avoid that problem. They make them in both carry handle and flattop models for use with a piccatiny rail. http://www.midwayusa.com/Find?userSearc ... +deflector plus they make a lot of fans at the range because you don't pelt your neighbor with hot brass.

scored a Rock River completed lower for $200 from a guy I know that had a few extra. Then scored a nasty looking complete A2 upper for $150. About an hour's worth of work cleaning the upper (turned out to be barely used, interior & carrier were pristine) and a quick spritz of gunkote to cover the surface rust on the outside of the barrel and Bob's your uncle. Aha, so you found one half from a guy who buys more stuff than he needs, and another half from a guy who throws stuff away when it gets dirty.
Got it.

well, it wasn't just dirty, it was nasty filthy with caked on dust & grease. You know, how when it turns almost to a paste or waxy consistency. Wan't cosmo, still not sure what it was other than yuck. I honestly don't know that it was ever shot or if it was, not much.

Finally figured out that I was pushing slightly backward on the mag, causing rounds to tip down and not feeding.
Quit doing that pronto.

isn't that for airsoft #-o

why don't you just hold the rail , like you are supposed to ](*,)
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

Because it sells tons to those that never learned how to properly handle a rifle. #-o

It is hard to tell on my phone, but doesn't it say "FAG DEFENSE"? :-k That would explain it all!

Personally, no it shouldn't. His carbine is not failing, the ammo is. The carbine should only be 100% reliable with the ammo it was designed/built for. Additionally why should he clean the bore if he is having issues with steel case ammo, perhaps he may want to clean the chamber as that is the only thing the steel case touches other than the bolt face extractor and ejector.

Testy today ah. Ammo failing that's your opinion, I say the rifle is failing and that's mine opinion as it won't reliably shoot the ammo. If you clean your chamber you should clean the bore that is attached no...as all sorts of shit will roll down it.

I used an Aeroprecision complete lower ($179) and a Complete PSA upper in 14.5" ($399) and the total cost was $578 before I put on a BUIS. Grand total = $633, and it shoots great. That is how you make an decent inexpensive AR.

Very similar build, very similar qualities except I remember PSA having chrome lined bore, badass!! The DSA upper has a nitrided bore, a step below chrome lined but above bare steel. How is it running so far?

By the way, this is long overdue but thanks for the shooting tips everyone. I moved temporarily to Kalifornia but I'm coming back soon, and buying back this exact rifle which my friend had bought from me.

Shoots great. No problems so far. Love the 14.5" barrel-too bad the FH is permanent. I will attach a pic later.

I hold on to the the very front of the handguard and it works great for me. I also learned to shoot left handed (not hard, just practice) one trick is to take chapstick to the right side of your shooting glasses.... makes the left eye work better ;)

BTW where is that range? I can't find any near me that will let me shoot an AR in doors...
