Or is this deal better? The Saiga AK for $500

Any differences in quality?

First one is a glorified WASR. The Saiga is much better, as it's Russian.

Can you explain though why it's better?

I'd pass on the first one solely based on the irritating video. :ham'r

Generally speaking, Romanian AKs are bottom of the barrel, especially the more modern ones. Yes, they still work, but they frequently have canted sights and wobbly magazines. The Russian Saigas are also cheap mass produced units, but they're made by the folks that created them in the first place. Once converted, it's neat to have a REAL Russian AK.

If you want an actual QUALITY AK, go with Chinese or Bulgarian. Polish and Hungarian are also very good, but a bit more rare. Also decide if you must have an AK47 or if an AK74 may be a better option. The ammo is sure cheaper, and it's friendlier to shoot than the x39.

I would want to change out the forend on the Saiga if I were to get it to a tapco galil style forend, would that be possible with the Saiga?
