I recently got a Springfield M1 Garand in trade and when i shot it, i was having the same early-eject problems fellow FSN'r Rug was having in this thread:
post755767.html?hilit=Holbrook device#p755767 ...... I took Flcracker's & Wakkos advice and ordered a Holbrook device + new recoil/hammer/clip ejector & clip latch springs from Deans Gun Restoration.
http://dgrguns.com/index.htm I figured i better replace everything since Bruce Dow is a little too far away. Here is a picture of the Holbrook device:

I just got back from the Range and am happy to report the Springer was perfect thru 7 clips and it was kinda nice not having to keep track of flying en-blocs.... i usually leave $5-6 dollars worth in the grass at the range. For those that don't know, the Holbrook Device replaces the original operating rod catch and stops both automatic functions..... of the bolt moving forward, and causing "Garand Thumb" + the en-bloc is captured until the shooter presses the clip latch release. Also, it allows the loading of single rounds. It changes the loading sequence in that you load the clip and pull back and release the op-rod handle, just like a M14/Mini 14. It is very easy to install and it takes longer to break down the rifle than the actual installation. I won't get one for all my Garands but i am glad i did on this one. Hope this helps this anybody with a similar problem, Jim
