I want a semi-auto long range paper killer that uses detachable mags. Looked at a FNAR today and thought it was pretty sharp, but I haven't heard much about them before... Advice know the good or bad on it. Kind of torn between the FNAR or SA M1a, I can get the FNAR for $1200 or the M1a about $300 more.

Does that $1,200 for the FNAR include a scope and rings? The irons on the M14 are superb and it doesn't really need a scope unless you're chasing "Xs".

I wouldn't mind having both, but I can't justify spending the money since I can't shoot anywhere near as much as I would like with work. I was just looking on buds and they have the fnar light for 12xx and they have a non railed and railed socom for sale for 14xx and 16xx. I know a lot of people don't like the shorter barreled sa m1a's but still a pretty good price and you get to beat out the tax.

If I had the funds, I'd get a Socom in a heartbeat. But then I don't really care to shoot much past 100yds either.

My eyes aren't what they used to be... I would be putting a scope on either one. That's why I was looking at the FNAR, because it has a scope rail built in. The SOCOM also has one but it a scout mount and I'm not sure if I like the scout set up.
