Im gonna shoot my 1903 I traded for today and see how it does. It came in a beautiful cartouched stock, was a 1/2 on the gauges but the bore was dark. I did several treatments of Wipeout foaming bore cleaner and passes with a brush and it helped a lot. There is a couple of visible pits but its not too bad.

I spent the week-end cleaning the 1903A3. Soaked the stock in mineral spirits. Scrubbed and did second scrub using acetone. After it dried, found the RA and FJA stamps, the P stamp was present along with several sub-inspector stamps by the mag floor plate. The toe of the stock was repaired at some point but it's a very good job. I left all the dings in the wood as "marks of honor." Two coats of tung oil had it looking great. Date on the barrel is 9-43. The receiver is the original green. Some spots needed some cold blue and it looks awesome. Disassembled the bolt and cleaned the old cosmoline out and it's very smooth. Bore is a little dark but no pits that I can see. I an't seem to get pics loaded from the MAC but I'll keep trying. Can't wait to reassemble and shoot this week!
