Century L1A1 value?

Postby kmagnuss » Wed Jan 27, 2010 2:12 pm

Anyone know what a Century "Canadian made" L1A1 is worth roughly? I'd say it's in about 90% condition or so.

Id guess around 5-600 TOPS

receiver manufacturer? (probably imbel or FMAP) If hesse, -100
Still in thumbhole stock? -100
Inch Kit or Metric? Either one's good, but if it's a mixmaster with both kinds, -50
922r compliant? if not, -150

$700 if it's a good receiver, not thumbholed, and 922r

Otherwise, deduct as necessary..

Thumbhole stock - check (am I stupid for actually liking it?)
I think it's hesse for some reason - check
No idea whatsoever if it's inch or metric, so let's just assume a mish mash.

So that would make it worth about $450...which is right where it's priced. Bummer.

its still a FAL for $ 450 which isn't that bad, you can make mods from extra parts pretty cheap
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

While the thumbholes on there it's exempted from 922r. If it's a hesse, avoid unless you like a project that may end badly.

See if they'll let you shoot it first, or return it if it's one of the duds. If so, it's a very good deal.

FAL kit, $250-300
Decent receiver, $275+
922r parts $150-200

So, around $700 for a decent FAL.

If it doesn't work, even if it's a Hesse, you could flip it on Falfiles.com, some guys are masochists and love a challenge.

I picked up a "nice" one a couple of weeks ago for $500 It shoots good and I feel it was a good deal. It's metric with an Imbel receiver and 922 compliant.
