Century CETME flash hider removable?

Postby Lowell » Sat Apr 17, 2010 10:35 pm

I bought a pair of Century CETME's a while back, and I'm real proud of them.
both seem to have ~20 or so inch barrels, and with the Gemtech thread about suppressors and the tax rebate so i can save ~200 bucks, I wondered if the flash hider on the rifle is removable, or are they typically welded/pinned in place?

I looked at one rifle and gave it a casual twist, and it seems on tighter than I'm willing to crank on without asking the FSN brain trust:

Not sure i would be willing to sink money into a suppressor for that caliber vs something more practical for me, but I can't really tell looking at mine; it seems like it might be pinned, but not welded, but i don't see the channel for a pin.

They are probably blind pinned

In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

Yep. They're pretty easy to remove once you get over the fear of screwing up your barrel. Just a little grinding, then if necessary you can banana peel the brake.
