It could be because the good guy didn't live to tell about it. Do you really think the media would ever write "Steve Actionpants was doing quite well when being jumped by 8 men with bats until his Sig Sauer (notice they didn't write Glock there) ran out of ammo and he was forced to try to use it as a club. Had he had just one more magazine (notice I didn't use 'clip') he may have won the fight and be home with his wife and children."
Something to ponder. It doesn't take much planning to drop a spare mag in your pocket. Not to mention that a magazine change and rack will clear almost all gun jams.
