Campus gun bans, a failed system?

Postby Rich7553 » Fri Dec 09, 2011 1:57 pm

The Virginia Tech incidents occurred on just one campus, in just one state. Similar events have occurred on campuses throughout the country, each one a gun-free zone. How many more such incidents will need to occur before college administrators realize that gun bans simply do not protect the students, faculty, and staff from unpredictable acts of gun violence?

First words out of the university president's mouth was something to the effect; "This incident just underscores how dangerous guns are.

Mostly, that's what made the biggest impression on me was how he managed to get his political 'shot' in there with his first sentence. After that, I heard nothing else he had to say.
.
There's a storm coming.

It would be fair to say that ALL gun-free zones represent a failed system. How many mass-shootings have taken place in schools, malls, businesses, even a military base where personal carry of firearms is prohibited? How many take place at shooting ranges? Have the laws in D.C., New York City, or Chicago prevented people from being killed with guns? Of course not. Criminals are by definition not obeying laws anyway. The idea that someone who is going to commit murder or other violence will obey any gun restriction is ridiculous. Even with all of the gun restrictions in England, have they enjoyed safety? Now they are banning Samurai swords! Have the new anti-gun laws in Australia reduced violent crime? Just the opposite. The law abiding turned in their guns, the criminals didn't, crime has expanded dramatically. State after state here in the U.S. has seen dramatic decreases in crime rates after passing "Shall Issue" CCW laws, including here in Florida.

Anti-gun laws only guarantee unarmed victims. We all already know that.
