Anybody tried a VersaCarry yet?

Postby Robs » Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:55 am

I picked up a LC9 a few months ago and whilst it is easy to conceal with Summer on it's way have been looking for an very low profile and light carry method.
I came across this and it sort of makes a lot of sense.
They are not expensive and I am tempted just to get one but if anyone has tried one I would be interested on your opinions.

The XS type would give a higher position for drawing but less concealment.......
The L would be maybe a bit difficult to get a firm grip on but with out some hands on time it's a bit difficult to say.....
Have a look and would be interested in plus's and minus's, either way......

Looks like it doesn't protect the trigger. Not interested.

Remora holsters are are inexpensive as well and maybe a better option for you.

looks to me like the versacarry is a pretty good deal.. looks pretty secure.. and it looks like if you carry it right.. it protects your trigger just fine.

After watching the videos i would have to disagree, the "holster" its self does not protect the trigger at all. For me that a deal breaker, other than that the idea is pretty sound

Anybody tried a VersaCarry yet?

Apparently the Gen II can be ordered with an "optional" trigger guard. I could confidently carry my 442 without a trigger guard, but definitely wouldn't carry any of my autos without one.

It now comes with a trigger guard which can be removed or re-fitted as you wish.

Looks like I may have to just order one and see how it works out.
Still not sure about which length to go for.
XS will have it riding fairly high and the L will have the grip behind the belt.

I would go with something else. The trigger being exposed is a deal breaker for me. I would suggest something else that is safer such as a Comptac holster.

Looks uncomfortable to me, I like some leather between the gun and my skin.

I got it yesterday, been wearing it today and I'm ordering another one for my 45's.
I ordered the Small one for my LC9 and it's perfect! =D>
I would recommend it!

I expect you've already gotten sufficient feedback on your question and probably already decided for or against but for what it is worth... I bought a used LC9. The previous owner had a very nice, custom made leather concealed carry (IWB) holster that came with it. I wore that for a while. The leather holster, in spite of its custom, compact size, did add to the overall IWB bulk. Then I saw the Versacarry (and had a "why didn't I think of that" moment). Ordered an XS for my LC9 (also got one for my Colt Officers .45 but don't ordinarily carry that... too heavy). FYI, the XS for the LC9 keeps the gun up pretty high from the waistband, making the grip easy to get hold of and draw, which I wanted for defensive purposes. Understand your concern about summer. I plan on doing "shirt untucked" or light vest. Bought several different lightweight vests for just this purpose. Carry my LC9 with the Versacarry every day, all day. When out in public, if I don't have a long, loose, shirt on, I wear a vest. Considering the size and weight of the LC9, the Versacarry is PERFECT for true concealed carry. The new model Versacarry comes
with an (optional) trigger guard but I didn't use it. Because of the long trigger pull and manual safety on the LC9, I don't worry about the unprotected trigger. The pistol against your skin or T-shirt is not a problem. Two things about the Versacarry, neither of which prevent me from continuing to use it; depending on how and where you position it, the Versacarry itself can "poke" you and after a while it can get irritating; and the belt/pants clip is VERY stiff and simply getting it on and off your belt/waistband can be a REAL challenge.

If you've got an LC9 for concealed carry, I highly recommend the Versacarry.
